How big is Facebook really? September last year Facebook’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook had more than 300 million users worldwide but how many registered users does Facebook have today? Well, let’s put it this way: Facebook has become a massive social networking giant! It has now so many users that if Facebook was a country if would be the 3rd biggest in the world right after China and India! If you would place it on the map it would cover an area from Canada to Equador and northern Peru. According to Google’s Adplanner Facebook has currently 540 million users reaching almost 60% of people in the US. Facebook’s biggest age demographic groups are 25-34 and 45-54. Women (57%) are using Facebook slightly more than men (43%).
Compared to the other big social networks Facebook is a giant. By comparison Twitter has currently 98 million users, MySpace 67 million and the business oriented LinkedIn 41 million users.
Google Trends shows a steady climb for Facebook which started only 30 months ago in 2008 when Facebook surpassed My Space in popularity in April that year.
