This must be the greatest innovation in advertising history since the first TV commercial in 1955 for Gibbs Toothpaste!
I saw a dream last night where I was working in a publishing company with by brother in law. We were having our monthly meeting with our boss about ideas for the upcoming month. I was pleased to show the boss my plans, however my bil didn’t have much of anything to show. I thought that my plan was actually quite good, it was something about using an amoeba growing up and developing into to an octopus, or something similarly weird; but my bil didn’t share my view about it. So, I decided to wrestle him there and then in the conferenec room. The boss didn’t seem to mind as he is quite a cool boss. His name was Max.
All of a sudden in the middle of my dream comes in this commercial! Get your self a Mac YouToo Burger if you’re feeling stressed or famished, or something. The burger had a sesame seed bun and it looked like a cross between McFeast and their skinny cheese burger. It didn’t have any fries or Coke or anything else, so it was not a meal commercial; just the burger. The lenght of the advertisement feature was only about 15-20 seconds. Pretty much like a reminder ad to a main ad.
When the ad was over I returned to the main feature which was the wrestling match with my bil in the office board room. The boss suggested that we’d stop fooling around and get back to work; to which I replied that he’s my bil, and I can wrestle him if I want to.
Anyway, the main point here isn’t the crazy dream I was seeing but the commercial in the middle! It must have been the world’s first dream commercial as I certainly haven’t seen anything like it ever. If you saw the same ad last night, please let me know.
So, the name of the new Mc Donald’s burger was McYouToo. I saw the logo and all. See image on the right. Yes, the name is actually pretty lame but maybe this was one of those target restricted advertising trials where they test names and other aspects of the ad with a limited audience. Maybe I will get an email later on today from Mc Donalds advertising department asking me to fill in a questionnaire or something.
I didn’t see any slogan in the end but it could have something like this:
Introducing the new Mc YouToo Sesame Burger at the dream near you.
I wonder how much does this kind of adertising costs? I know that a lot of social media advertising can be very cheap or even free but if this one was run into a database of networked people from a satellite station or something then it would be pretty expensive.
The effect of the ad so far has not been that great as I don’t feel like having a burger, however it is still 8.30 in the morning.
We’ll see what happens at lunc time.
